Local Music Director
Hello everyone. It has been too long...
As many of you know I was the Program Director at WKNC for quite some time. I met some new friends, amazing bands/artists, and had many life lessons and experiences. I do not exaggerate when I say that my time at WKNC was probably the best time of my life. I feel that during my tenure as PD of 88.1 we took the station to new heights in the local music scene in our area, a scene that cannot be ignored. I am proud to say that I had a large part in this.
However, a couple of months ago my busy schedule began to catch up with me and I forced myself to resign from my favorite job/hobby and step aside in order to reevaluate the important things in my life. Leaving WKNC was not an easy decision, but was something I had to do.
However, as my workload began to decrease my good friend, and new WKNC General Manager, DJ Mick offered me the newly vacant Local Music Director spot at the station. Being an avid follower of North Carolina music, I jumped at the opportunity.
Having been sucked into the music scene in the Triangle by ex-Local MD DJ Stevo, and fellow DJ Mz Kelly, I felt that I could only do good by further persuing my interest in the various types of music that surrounds my state and community.
In the coming weeks, when my schedule relaxes a bit, I will begin cohosting the Local Beat with DJ Mick. We have many exciting plans for both the Local Beat and Local Lunch on WKNC and we certainly hope to continue WKNC's reputation as the leading source for local music in the Triangle while building on the already mountainous legacy left behind by Stevo and the many fantastic DJs at The Revolution.
I will also be suspending the use of my blogspot and myspace blogs, instead focusing on the WKNC blog. Please be sure to check that out every week for new updates!
Also, feel free to contact me. My screenname is CaidWKNC but you can also reach me at localmusic@wknc.org.
